PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CBS NEWS FILMS LOCAL TOASTMASTERS CLUB

Pasadena, Calif. - July 24, 2002 - CBS News did an investigative report on Public Speaking and chose a Pasadena Toastmasters Club, The Talespinners, as an example of Public Speakers in action. One of Americans biggest fears is speaking in public. To overcome that fear, Toastmasters is an international organization dedicated to improving the communication and leadership skills of its members. There are currently over 8,000 clubs internationally and more than 187,000 members.

The news crew, led by anchor Debbie Thomas, filmed
the Allendale Library in Pasadena on Tuesday, July 23rd. Several Toastmasters were interviewed, including Distinguished Toastmaster, Lynne Veilling, Division B Governor, David Wiemers and Area B-4 Governor Amit Patel. The segment aired on Wednesday, July 31st, on the Early Show on CBS, between 8-9 am, across the nation.

If you have a fear of public speaking or if you're interested in improving your communication and leadership skills, contact Toastmasters.Org to search for a club near you. Or you can send an email to infoplus@earthlink.net for more local information.

Pasadena and the surrounding communities currently have 37 Toastmasters Clubs, meeting at different times and different locations. The newest TM club was formed just last Friday: The Lake Avenue Toastmasters Club, located in the Indy-Mac Bank building on Lake Avenue and Walnut. That club meets Fridays at noon.

Fear of public speaking may soon be a thing of the past.
