Road to your CTM
Here you will discover the process of achieving your CTM (Competent Toastmaster).
Getting your Competent Toastmaster (CTM) is a challenging task, which most people find fun and rewarding. Along the way friends are made, laughter is shared, and a good deal of personal growth is experienced. It is important to never lose site of your goal, and to help ensure that you're always getting closer to your CTM, we've prepared a quick guide on how to get there.
In order to earn your CTM you need to complete 10 speeches. These can be said at any of our regular meetings, or at our committee meetings (which are held every Monday at 18h00 in the Toastmasters room next to the Kaif). The 10 speeches are as follows :
Speech 1 - The Ice Breaker
Objectives

To begin speaking before an audience.

To help you understand what areas require particular emphasis in your speaking development.

To introduce yourself to your fellow club members.

Speech 2 - Speak With Sincerity
Objectives

To convince the audience of your earnestness, sincerity, and conviction on a subject you thoroughly understand.

To confront and control any nervousness you may have.

Speech 3 - Organize Your Speech
Objectives
*
To organize your thoughts into a logical sequence that leads the audience to a clearly defined goal.

To build a speech outline that includes an opening, body, and conclusion.

Speech 4 - Show What You Mean

To learn the value of gestures and body movements as part of a speech.

To explore the different ways of using body language.
*
To develop a sense of timing and natural, smooth body movement.

To understand the mood and feelings of your audience on a particular occasion.

Where to from here ??
Earning your CTM is your first step towards earning the prestigious Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM).
The DTM is the highest recognition a Toastmaster may receive, and is a highly regarded qualification.
There are now two tracks which you can pursue, the Communications Track, and the Leadership Track.
You need to complete both of these tracks in order to receive your DTM.
Communications Track

Advanced Toastmaster Bronze (ATM-B)
o
Complete two Advanced Communication and Leadership manuals.

Advanced Toastmaster Silver (ATM-S)
o
Complete another two Advanced Communication and Leadership manuals.
o
Conduct any two programs from The Better Speaker Series and/or The Successful Club Series.
*
Advanced Toastmaster Gold (ATM-G)
o
Complete another two Advanced Communication and Leadership manuals.
o
Conduct a Success/Leadership Program, Success/Communication Program, or a Youth Leadership Program.
o
Coach a new member with the first three speeches.
Leadership Track
*
Competent Leader (CL)
o
Served as a Club officer and participated in the preparation of a Club Success Plan.
o
Participated in officer training as a Club officer.
o
Conducted any two programs from The Successful Club Series.
*
Advanced Leader (AL)
o
Served as a District Officer.
o
Completed the High Performance Leadership program.
o
Served successfully as a Club Sponsor or a Club Mentor or a Club Specialist.
